Titan dioksit beyaz olarak bilinen en \u00f6nemli pigment olup, boyama g\u00fcc\u00fc, opakl\u0131\u011f\u0131, reaksiyona az girmesi ve m\u00fckemmel termal stabilitesinden dolay\u0131 her zaman tercih edilmektedir. Titan dioksit iki \u015fekilde bulunur: Rutile ve Anatase.\n\nRutile en \u00e7ok kullan\u0131lan titan dioksit olup, \u00f6zg\u00fcl a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131\u011f\u0131 4.2 g cm-3, k\u0131r\u0131lma indisi 2.76 ve Moh skalas\u0131ndaki sertli\u011fi 7 dir. Rutilein kuvvetli boyama g\u00fcc\u00fc ve opakl\u0131\u011f\u0131 vard\u0131r. Anatas\u2019a g\u00f6re daha asald\u0131r. Beyaz pigmentlerin en iyisi olan rutile, ultraviyole \u0131\u015f\u0131nlar\u0131na kar\u015f\u0131 plasti\u011fi korur. Rutile, plasti\u011fe iklim \u015fartlar\u0131na, \u0131s\u0131ya kar\u015f\u0131 diren\u00e7 sa\u011flaman\u0131n yan\u0131 s\u0131ra plastiklere sa\u011flaml\u0131k da verir.\nTitanyum dioksit yayg\u0131n olarak kullan\u0131lan UV stabilizat\u00f6rleri aras\u0131ndad\u0131r. Ultraviole stabilizat\u00f6rlerinin PVC kar\u0131\u015f\u0131m\u0131na ilavesiyle UV \u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131mlar\u0131n\u0131n etkisi \u00f6nemli oranda azalt\u0131labilir. En \u00f6nemli UV stabilizat\u00f6rleri aras\u0131nda yer alan pigmentler \u0131\u015f\u0131\u011f\u0131 emerek veya yans\u0131tarak UV \u0131\u015f\u0131nlar\u0131na kar\u015f\u0131 polimeri korur.
